My blogging style assumes a bit of knowledge about what I’m prattling on about so for those who are newer to this wonderful world of allergies and intolerances I have the Knowledge Hub! This will be a bit of a work in progress for a while.

Failsafe – A diagnostic, elimination diet developed by the Royal Prince Albert Hospital in Sydney to determine food intolerances. It is called Failsafe as it is easier to say than free of additives, low in salicylates, amines and flavour enhancers.

Salicylates – organic chemicals found naturally in many herbs, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. The body needs to detoxify and clear away these chemicals before they accumulate. Everyone has a threshold for symptoms and once that level is reached the body starts getting allergic style inflammatory reactions. This page has a good summary – ATP Science

Amines – a food chemical, found in all foods, however the levels of amines present varies on the food, it’s age and how it is prepared. A couple of pages that have some good info:-
